It was a cold, wet walk across Bristol to the Old Vic on Saturday morning. However, I knew it would be worth it as I was hearing Philip Reeve talk about his new book.
'Railhead' is a fantastic read. Philip Reeve writes beautifully, choosing his words so carefully and creating vivid images. The story is action packed and absorbing with strong, original characters.
Normally, these events take the form of the author talking about their book, their inspiration, their working processes and so on- all very interesting- followed by a question and answer session. This session was a breath of fresh air! We were introduced to the characters by readings from the book accompanied by films and music. Philip reads so well; he is a real pleasure to listen to! At one point, he spoke from memory which was very impressive. Having already read the book, it was great to have it brought to life in this way!
A lovely way to spend a wet Saturday morning!
