We all know the feeling- you wake up and nothing’s right! Well, one morning, Pom Pom gets out of bed on the wrong side and things go from bad to worse!
We all know a Pom Pom- if not in our classes, then maybe a bit closer to home! This is an excellent way of exploring those moods that everyone has which are so hard to explain. Sophy Henn has captured the ‘Harrumph!’ mood perfectly- and its consequences. Discussing Pom Pom’s mood and how Pom Pom’s actions caused problems is a great way of leading to more personal parallels!
The illustrations are lovely. So much emotion is conveyed through the eyebrows of that little panda and yet the drawings seem so simple. Using Pom Pom, children could explore and draw different emotions, thinking about the facial clues that we usually give.
I hope there are many more Pom Pom books on the way! The next one is Pom Pom the Champion- I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
