What a beautiful book! Tall and narrow, it stands out from first glance, then, once hooked, each spread invites careful examination.
As the title suggests, the book explores what is happening in different places in the world at the same moment in time. Glimpses of each location are shown on the cover, merging into one another as the time zones change. Each page then focuses on a different person in a different place. Perrin’s colourful illustrations depict each moment beautifully, offering opportunities for discussion (for example, what are the Northern lights?) and the challenge of finding the little bird in each one!
At the back of the book, there is information about the history of time keeping, Sir Sandford Fleming and the time zones and a lovely pull out map showing the location of each place visited.
Obviously a valuable addition when teaching about time, maths, geography, other cultures, etc, this book also suggests so many possibilities for inspiring writing in a whole range of styles! I can’t wait to use it with my new class; however, I’m also looking forward to cuddling up with the little ones with this as a bedtime story!
