Born September 13th 1916, Roald Dahl would have been 99 this year. The 13th has become a day to celebrate the life and work of this inspirational author and recognise the impact he has had on children’s literature. This year, it’s all about getting crafty with your favourite characters and there are resources available to download on the website.
One of the activities suggested is to invent a treat worthy of Mr Wonka himself so I’d like to challenge the rest of JAB to get creating to see who can come up with the tastiest treat for our next meeting!
The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is well worth a visit. Located in the beautiful Buckinghamshire village of Great Missenden where Roald Dahl lived and wrote, there is lots to see and do. I have very fond memories of taking my son there shortly after it opened and plan to take my nephew and niece very soon. And yes, I am biased about the beauty of the village- I grew up there!
The photo is of some of my copies of Dahl’s books from when I was a child- very different to today’s covers.
