We were all up early today, enjoying our cooled breakfast before packing up the cars. It was quite a struggle to get everything in as we had been given one or two books...
Just a small selection..!
Our first session of the day was Daniel Hahn, Jane Ray and S F Said, in conversation with Prue Goodwin. Each fascinating in their own right, the discussion was wide ranging and very interesting.
The Year 3 and 4 children at my school all wrote to S F Said as they have been reading 'Varjak Paw'. I dutifully handed them all over - he was so lovely about them!
John Boyne had the audience captivated as he talked with Daniel Hahn about his writing next. Members of the group were particularly impressed with his reading from 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas'.
Just in case our food levels had dropped a millimetre below the FULL mark, it was time for another break- and more cake! This time, we celebrated Nosy Crow's 5th birthday with some gorgeous cupcakes!
Piers Torday was our last speaker as the conference was to finish with Anna Conomos, the Jean Russell Storyteller for 2016. Piers was very interesting and inspirational, making a brilliant last speaker.
The Conference closed with a wonderful performance from Anna, who was lively and enthusiastic. Ours is one of the lucky groups who were successful in their bid for a visit from her and we are really looking forward to her coming! She was wonderful!
Lunch before leaving, just in case anyone was hungry, then home- very, very happy! We're all looking forward to next year!
