Mia is a middle child. Stuck between perfect older sister, Grace, who's off to Cambridge and little sister, Audrey, who's a future Olympic swimmer, Mia feels like she is the odd one out with no talents- except for getting into trouble!
When Grace makes a shock announcement, Mia is delighted; now 'Amazing Grace' will fall out of favour. However, when this doesn't happen, Mia is left spiralling out of control and has to face the consequences.
Mia is a mix of the infuriating and the loveable. Loud, brash and over-flowing with attitude, she is the leader of her group and revels in male attention. But as the story progresses, we come to see more of the real Mia, the one who feels like she doesn't fit in, that she's not special and that she has to live up to a level of wildness and reckless behaviour that is leading to disaster.
'All About Mia' is a story about sibling rivalry- but also of family love and strength. Lisa Williamson does not shy away from the awkward, embarrassing or tense situations Mia gets herself into, showing the reader how her actions put her at risk without preaching or commenting. The story also explores how her siblings are feeling and forces Mia to look at things from their point of view.
A powerful read with plenty of humour and action, 'All About Mia' is an action packed, compelling book. I loved it!
