Last term, we had a wonderful time with our Year 1 and Year 2 children, celebrating 25 years of one of my favourite books! 'Owl Babies' is a beautiful story, comforting for any child who has ever worried about their mum (or anyone) leaving them. Always a joy, no matter how many times you have read it, this lovely book is a relevant today as when it was written- 25 years ago!
53 children joined us for our after school event. There was great excitement as the children realised that we had some very special feathered visitors ready to meet them. So the owls weren't too scared, we split into smaller groups with some children meeting the birds whilst the rest of us created our own owl baby using paper plates, coloured pencils and feathers!
Soon, feathers were flying everywhere and lots of lovely baby owl masterpieces had been created.
Hot chocolate with marshmallows and lots of biscuits followed and home time came all too quickly! We had lots of really positive feedback from the children and their parents.
