What better way to start celebrating Non-fiction November than by looking at our wonderful Information Category  shortlist! It's so important to share exciting, interesting and challenging non-fiction with children to allow them to discover and explore the world and spark new interests!

'Lesser Spotted Animals' is a wonderful book about a whole host of fantastic creatures. Children I've shared this treasure with have adored the quirky illustrations and the way the information is presented, particularly the fact boxes. Splat! opens up the world of art and artists. Show casing some of the most iconic works and some which are less familiar, it makes fascinating reading. My class loved the pictures and exploring them in more detail. You can read our long list review here.

'The Big Book of Bugs' celebrates our often over-looked bug life in a wonderfully chatty, informal style. Fascinated by the incredible spreads and the detailed illustrations, my children adored finding out so many things that they never knew about these amazing creatures! 'Fantastically Great Women' is fabulously illustrated, offering a great introduction to some amazing women. Boys and girls alike enjoyed discovering more about their lives and achievements. You can read our review here.
