Apparently, Aesop said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
An excellent motto to live life by and Random Acts of Kindness Day- or week, depending on what you read!- offers a focus to remind everyone of the importance of showing kindness to others.
A book which briliantly captures the essence of sharing joy and spreading a little happness is 'Pass It On' by the wonderful Sophy Henn.
Should you spot a thing of wonder, jump for joy and pass it on...
From the first page, this is a ray of sunshine that makes you smile. The illustrations are bold and vibrant, underlining the message of the text (and I love the Pom Pom panda toy being waved by a child on the roller coaster!) . It shows the simple actions we can all perform which have a huge impact on the lives of others. It is the perfect starting point for discussions about those little kindnesses we should all offer readily - and yet sometimes forget to do.
Can we always feel that joy?
Sometimes the fun and glee aren't in their usual place.
But search around, there's always some...a hum, a hug, a happy face.
The story acknowledges that sometimes we need those acts of kindness back from others as well. This is so important as no one can be - or should be expected to be- upbeat all the time. We all need each other!
So- get out there and pass those acts of kindness on!
