A guest post about The b small Young Language Learner of the Year Award 2017

This seems like a great way of engaging children with other languages!

The b small Young Language Learner of the Year Award

be creative, be inventive, be a language learner

On 19th April 2017, after a two year hiatus and high demand, independent children¹s publisher b small publishing launched the b small Young Language Learner of the Year Award 2017. The award has been designed to encourage teachers, parents and carers to introduce their children to foreign languages in a creative way and to help them develop a passion for language learning.
Established in 2013, many teachers used the award as a classroom resource to provide an on-going engaging and creative activity for all levels in their foreign language teaching. The quality of entries reflected the ambition and imagination of the young language learners. 2017 will also see the scope of the award extend to include any language that the child might be learning.

Children will be provided with a story template and invited to complete their own foreign language book, in the foreign language of their choice, with their own words and pictures to accompany their story. The award not only develops language skills but also encourages fun through storytelling.

The Award winners will become published authors with b small publishing making the winning story entry available for free on their website as a PDF e-book. They will also win £50 worth of b small language learning books. The closing date for entries is 15th June 2017 and the winner will be announced on 30th June 2017. The entries will be judged in 2 categories; children under 6 years of age and children 6 years and over.
