There’s plenty of love to go round and round.
There’s plenty of love to go round.
Plum is a very special, very loved dog. He lives with his mummy and daddy (his owners) who love their one and only special Plum. He has two best friends, Gracie and Sam, who live next door and he is their best and only one. Plum is one very loved and very happy dog.
One day, Gracie and Sam said they had a surprise to show Plum. The surprise was Binky – A CAT! Plum was not keen on cats but Gracie and Sam loved Binky and they said that Binky loved Plum too. Binky turned up everywhere: at the park and at home. Everywhere Plum went, Binky went. Binky rolled where Plum rolled, stretched where Plum stretched, sniffed where Plum sniffed and even peed where Plum peed. There was no getting away from that cat!
When Plum sought refuge in the garden shed, Binky followed him in there too! The door slammed shut behind them and Plum was stuck in a shed with a cat and no food! He started to worry, but Binky managed to squeeze out through a gap in the door, bringing Gracie and Sam back to rescue Plum – that clever cat! Everyone was so pleased with Binky for being wonderful and helping Plum - everyone that was, except Plum. Plum was not happy. He thought Binky was a show-off, clever clogs cat. He did not see why everyone thought Binky was so special. But they did, and soon Plum started to worry that Binky really could do everything and was the new Special One.
Plum went to visit Sam and Gracie. The cat was outside so Plum pushed the door shut and leant against the cat flap, trapping Binky outside. When it started to rain, Plum began to feel awful. Just then Plum’s Mummy and Daddy arrived: they saw Binky outside and they saw Plum. They knew what Plum had done. Mummy gave Plum a big cuddle and told him that there is room in everyone’s hearts for both Plum and Binky. Plum realized that there was room in his heart for Binky too. After all, there is plenty of love to go round.
This is a wonderfully feel-good story that teaches children that change can be good and that there really is plenty of love to go around. We have all had times in our lives when we have felt pushed aside, like Plum, and even when we have tried really hard to ‘fit in’ and be liked, nothing seems to work, just like Binky. This would be the perfect book to share during circle time; when someone new joins the class; when there is a new baby on the way; when discussing relationships with siblings and simply when reflecting on friendships – who is a Plum and who is a Binky?
Beautifully illustrated, 'Plenty of Love to Go Round’ is a gentle, heart-warming story with incredibly lovable characters.
