Last year 'Over the Hills and Far Away' was shortlisted in our Poetry Category. It is the most beautiful book, deserving a place in every library and on every bookshelf. Our review can be read here.
I was lucky enough to see the exhibition accompanying this book at Seven Stories on my last visit there (post here) and so was delighted to see that it was going to be at Taunton Museum this summer. Accompanied by my Library Mouse friend, we set off to explore and enjoy.
'Rhyme Around the World' is beautifully laid out and as we arrived as the museum opened, we were lucky enough to enjoy the space to ourselves- but not for long! It was wonderful to see how popular the exhibition is. It was soon full of children and their parents, having a wonderful time exploring the different areas and the rhymes they represented.
The artwork from this book is stunning and such a range of styles and illustrators were on show. We admired work by Shirley Hughes, Lucy Cousins, Caroline Binch, Jane Ray and so many others.
If you are looking for something to do, this is well worth a visit- as is The Museum of Somerset itself! You can find out more on their website.
