Castle Cary is a lovely little town lying between the Somerset Levels to the west and the high ridge line of Penselwood to the east, halfway between the Mendip Hills and the Blackmore Vale.
Not far from the Market House, along Fore Street is Bailey Hill Bookshop, a delightfully spacious and light bookshop, full of wonderful reads.
The children's section can be found at the back of the shop and is laid out in a very child-friendly manner.
There is plenty of space to browse- even a little nook under the stairs for hiding away and enjoying a good read!
Another visitor to the shop left a comment which sums up the atmosphere in Bailey Hill Bookshop beautifully...
Upstairs, there is a lovely wool shop and a second hand books section. During Somerset Art Weeks (23rd September-8th October) this year, the upstairs will be hosting two local young artists- Lotte ad Gus Scott- and their work. Their exhibition is called 'Two Artists and a Bookshop' and I'm sure will be well worth a visit!
I left, clutching a few new purchases, after having had a lovely time exploring the shelves of this lovely shop. It won't be long before I go back...
