We don't normally post about grown-up books on our website; however, last night, I went to the launch of Joanna Nadin's new book, 'The Queen of Bloody Everything' at Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath.
Having battled my way through driving snow, I arrived to find Mr B's absolutely packed full of people having a great time. It was wonderful to see many familiar faces in the crowd. Old friends like Huw Powell, Di Toft and Sally Hamerton were in the crowd and I was very excited to meet Rachel Ward whose books I really enjoy.
Having spoken warmly about those who have supported and encouraged her, Joanna Nadin explained a little about the book, her worries about writing for adults instead of children and then read a section from 'The Queen of Bloody Everything'. The humour of her words stuck a chord with the audience who really enjoyed the taster she gave us.
At the end of her reading, Joanna paid tribute to the women who fought for suffrage and the role they played in achieving the rights and freedoms we now enjoy.
It was a lovely evening with lots of lovely people and I look forward to reading the book over half term.
