However, when Mayor Carrot refuses to pay him his fee, the Piper plays again and steals away the children- except Matilda. Will she and the Jolley-Rogers be able to save them and outwit the Piper?

Highly engaging and full of fun, ‘The Jolley-Rogers and the Pirate Piper’ offers a pacey and entertaining read for children looking for a longer independent read. Based loosely on The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the story is extremely well written, offering a rich vocabulary and well developed characters.

Lavishly illustrated, almost every page offers a work of art to be explored and enjoyed. The details included are amazing and are sure to generate discussion and inspire the next generation of artists. The Piper is an amazing creation, combining a nod to the traditional figure with plenty of magic from Jonny Duddle.
